Club Championship 36 Holes Blue Tee
A perfect morning greeted us all for this year’s running of the 2020 Foursomes event.
The Club Championship (36 Holes – Blue tees) had a field of 24 pairs attend the club for a 6.30 start. Several players noted using the practice facilities area are usually not out of bed at 6.30. It was also noted that many young fit players were in carts, not walking like the oldies.
Pace of play was great for the first 18 holes with a generous layover between the 2 rounds available for food and drink
Half time leaders were Paddy Kelly/Merv Danne with a scratch score of 77, 1 shot in front of Don Portway/Declan O’Dwyer. The 2 pairs of Kevin Isch/Alan McEntee & Greg Engler/Phill Hogg on 80
The field then fed back into the timesheet, with the 2nd18 a bit slower for all, with a generous NW wind
The 2nd 18 hole best players were Don Portway/Declan O’Dwyer with 76, followed by Mike Berting/Paul Bonomy 80 with Paddy Kelly/Merv Danne 81
After adjustment to the overall scores due to a player’s eligibility to win, the overall winners for 2020 were Paddy Kelly/Merv Danne 158, with Mike Berting/Paul Bonomy 162 on a c/b from Kevin Isch Alan McEntee 162
A check of the cards showed that birdies were rare with a few 8, 9 and 10s on a few cards
A special note of thanks to Trevor Jay who walked 36 holes with the Captain, finishing mid field.
B Grade Championship – 18 Hole White Tees
At a more respectable time, the B and C Grades teed off, broken into 3 blocks throughout the timesheet.
Steve McDermott/Peter Connop 83 just pipped Andrew King/Dominic Romeo 84 on a c/b from Steve Gaynor/Mark Millican 84. Steve and Peter played well with just 3 double bogies and 1 birdie
C Grade Championship – 18 Holes White Tees
A great score of 84 by the team of Warren Hogan/Tony Macpherson took and easy win from Grahame Price/Jurgen Krufczyk on 91. Just 4 double bogies and a birdie gave them a great win.
At the conclusion of the day, many tales were told by all before the presentation of the trophy to 2020 winners Paddy Kelly and Merv Danne

The annual Foursomes event is scheduled for Saturday 12 September 2020.
In the interests of having playing times available for participants in this event (6 players per time line) and the alternate Individual Stableford event for non-participants, we are seeking interest prior to Friday for players wishing to play foursomes.
Therefore we will offer players wishing to play 18 hole Foursomes (A, B & C Grades) to pre-book prior to Friday night, with the Friday Night sheet for Individual Stableford to be only for the remaining time spots.
The 36 hole Blue event has mostly been pre-booked, with limited spaces remaining.
As we are using the current on line booking system, we feel that there will be confusion with two time sheets being on line on Friday night.

I will do my best to accommodate you with your preference on a first received basis.
