Young Henry’s Summer Series – Season Wrap

The first season of the Young Henry’s Summer Series is done and dusted and what a season it was. A massive congratulations must go to every one of the 70 players who braved the rain and 50km/h southerly with double points on offer.

An amazing score of 24 points from Seb Dalzell won him the Christmas Cup (best score of the day) ahead of Andrew Taucher and Wes Dougney with 21.

With only 6 points covering the top 20 in the Individual Series and double points on offer, it was always going to go down to the wire. In the end, it was Andrew ‘Tornado’ Taucher who came from 11th place to sneak a 2 point win over David McKenzie in 2nd and Robyn Sparling in 3rd.

The Team series also saw some movement, with Raylean and Josh Ellison both posting scores of 19 for Ellison Zulian Property to leapfrog the Mongrels to the Team title. It was back to back wins for EZP, who only 7 days earlier won the 12th Annual Sponsors and Supporters Golf day team event. Well done as well to the Wobbly Boots who came home strong finishing 2nd on a countback over the Mongrels in third.

And that’s a wrap for the inaugural Summer Series event. Thanks so much to our event partners Young Henry’s Brewing. Their ongoing support has helped elevate this series to what has become one of the most talked-about events on the calendar. Averaging 100 players each Wednesday afternoon is well beyond anything we could have imagined and we appreciate the support of all the members and visitors that got involved.

The event, which was first thought up by Merv Danne and Paddy Kelly, will be back bigger and better next year, but in the meantime, we will continue to run the Wednesday 9-Hole competition each Week from the new year until the end of Daylight Savings.
